Increase In Car Burglaries, Thefts Reported By Bernards Twp. Police
Basking Ridge residents are being reminded to be vigilant as there have been an increase in motor vehicle burglaries and vehicle thefts.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Basking Ridge residents are being reminded to be vigilant as there have been an increase in motor vehicle burglaries and vehicle thefts in recent weeks, Bernards Township Police announced.
"We ask that all residents make it difficult for these criminals to commit these crimes. PLEASE DO NOT leave your vehicle unlocked with the keys in it, including while parked in the garage!" police posted.
To help prevent becoming a victim, police offer residents these tips:

- Do not leave valuables in plain view (purses, wallets, GPS devices, laptops, PDA’s, cell phones, MP3’s)
- Do not leave windows or sunroof open
- Do not leave doors unlocked
- Do not leave keys or key fobs in the vehicle
- Do not leave garage door opened or unlocked
- Do not leave the garage door opener in plain view
