Bernards Township, Schools Collaborate To Offer Job Opportunities For Special Ed Students

The Board of Education passed a resolution approving of the agreement with the Township for the 2024-25 school year.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Township and Board of Education are teaming up to offer job opportunities for special education students at Ridge High School.

The Bernards Township Board of Education passed a resolution approving the agreement with the Township at its Nov. 18 meeting.

"I think it's a great collaboration that we have for those students," said Board President Timothy Salmon.

The Job Sampling and Senior Internship programs will provide opportunities for students with disabilities to develop skills and knowledge to gain valuable hands-on experience.

As part of the agreement, the Township will provide a designated number of opportunities for Ridge High School students, chosen by the district, to participate in the unpaid and voluntary program.

Additionally, the Board agreed to provide insurance coverage for the program that will runs from Sept. 1, 2024, through Aug. 31, 2025.
