Man Asked Ridge HS Teens For Ride, Police Are Investigating
Bernards Township Police are investigating a suspicious incident involving a man driving a vehicle and Ridge High School students.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A suspicious incident involving a man driving a vehicle who asked Ridge High School students if they needed a ride on Tuesday morning is under investigation.
A group of RHS students were waiting for their school bus at around 7 a.m. in the area of Crabtree Court when a vehicle approached them, Bernards Township Police reported.
The driver was described as a middle-aged African-American man and he vehicle was described as a small light-colored four-door sedan, police said.

The man reportedly asked the group if they needs a ride and when the students said no, the man drove off, police report.
Police responded, checked the area and conducted an extensive canvass with no results.

"The investigation is ongoing at this time; however there remains NO evidence or indication that this incident is related to luring or an attempted abduction and appears isolated in nature," police said.
Parents and guardians are reminded to always speak with their children about general safety and situational awareness. Residents are also asked to report all suspicious activity to the police department.
