Basking Ridge Homeowner Confronts Man Trying To Break In: Police
The Newark man was later charged for burglarizing another home and captured by police on foot, Bernards Township police report.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A man was charged with burglarizing a Basking Ridge home and trying to break into another township home minutes later on Wednesday night, police report.
Rubin Taylor, 62, of Newark reportedly entered a home on Newell Drive through an unlocked door and took several items including cash, Bernards Township Police Chief Mike Shimsky said.
Taylor then tried to enter a home on Mount Airy Road several minutes later when he was confronted by the homeowner and ran away on foot, Shimsky said.

Township Police spotted Taylor about two hours later in the area on foot and captured him.
Warren Township Police and canine as well as officers from Peapack and Bernardsville Boroughs helped with the search.

Taylor was charged and lodged in the Somerset County Jail.
