New Deputy Chief Appointed, 3 Officers Promoted In Basking Ridge

Tim King, Alex McKnight, Mark Neri, and Slawomir Zolnierowski were all promoted on Tuesday night.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A new Deputy Chief was appointed and three other officers were promoted in the Bernards Township Police Department.

"I think it is wonderful the longevity of these folks' tenure goes anywhere from 16 to 25 years," said Committeewoman Ana Duarte McCarthy at the Tuesday Township Committee meeting. "It's wonderful they've decided to continually say yes to being part of our Bernards Township community."

annual salary of $179,000 for a 40-hour work week.

King is replacing Eric Geleta, who retired in August.

Sergeant Alex McKnight was promoted to full-time Lieutenant with a hire date of Oct. 1 at an

annual salary of $167,462.28 for a 40-hour work week.

Corporal Mark Neri was promoted to full-time Sergeant with a hire date of Oct. 1 at an annual salary of $144,723.85 for a 40-hour work week.

Officer Sly Zolnierowski was promoted to full-time Corporal with a promotion date of Oct. 1 at an annual salary of $138,090.79 for a 40-hour work week.

All of the promotions were approved through resolutions by the Township Committee on Tuesday.

"We are blessed to have the great men and women of the Bernards Police Department out there protecting us day in and day out. And these great additions to the leadership ranks will serve our town well," said Committeeman Andrew McNally.

"I want to congratulate our new officers on their promotion. They worked so hard to achieve the next level," said Committeewoman Janice Fields.
