New Mayor Takes Helm, Basking Ridge Remains 'Fully Republican'
James Baldassare was selected as mayor while Jennifer Asay and Andrew McNally were sworn into office as committee members.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Bernards Township remains entirely Republican after the swearing-in of two committee members on Tuesday night.
Republicans Jennifer Asay and Andrew McNally were sworn into office during the Jan. 4 reorganization meeting following their successful win in the 2021 election.
The committee then unanimously selected James Baldassare as Mayor and McNally as Deputy Mayor.

"Our residents have chosen once again to keep Bernards Township a fully Republican run town," said Baldassare followed by applause from the audience.
"I promise everyone once again to give my utmost in executing the duties of this office to the best of my ability to this township and all its residents," said Baldassare.

Baldassare takes over for Fields who was selected as Mayor for 2021. Following Field's farewell address she received a standing ovation from the audience and a moment from the committee.
Along with residents, several political officials also attended the meeting including former New Jersey governor candidate Jack Cittarelli, Assemblyman John Bramnick, and Assemblywoman Nancy F. Muñoz.
