New Police Chief, Deputy Chief Takes Charge In Basking Ridge

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A new police chief and deputy chief were sworn in to lead the Bernards Township Police Department on Tuesday night.
A swearing-in ceremony for Timothy King and Michael Sweeney's new positions was held at the March 11 Township Committee meeting.
"Congratulations to both, and we look forward to the excellent leadership you’ll continue for this department!" wrote the Bernards Township Police Department.

The Township Committee previously approved the promotion of Deputy Chief King as the new Police Chief, effective March 1, with an annual salary of $200,000.

The Committee also approved the promotion of Lt. Sweeney, who was promoted to Deputy Chief effective March 1 at an annual salary of $179,000.
