Officials Look To Improve Mine Brook, Canterbury Intersection

Accident data and the existing intersection design was reviewed to determine what safety improvements will be implemented.​

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Bernards Township Engineering and Police Department were monitoring and reviewing the Minebrook Road and Somerville Road Extension/Canterbury Way intersection on Thursday to make safety improvements.

Accident data and the existing intersection design was reviewed to determine what safety improvements will be implemented.

Many residents have shared their concerns over this intersection noting the number of accidents.

"My son had an accident there a year and a half ago. Lady ran the stop sign and he t-boned her. They never stop," said one resident.

"There was an accident there the first day the road opened. Woman went right through the stop sign. There’s been easily 10 accidents there over the last 6-7 years," said another resident.

The township currently has a partnership with Far Hills to improve Mine Brook Road. The Shared Service Agreement was voted on in September as Mine Brook Road is a a shared roadway, with the center line being the municipal boundary between both Bernards and Far Hills.
