Ridge Boys Fencing Team Triumph Over Ramapo, Advance To Semifinals
Ridge will face West Windsor-Plainsboro South in the Semifinals on Monday.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — It was the battle of the unbeaten teams Wednesday night at Ridge High School as the boys (13-0) went up against Ramapo (14-0) and came away with the victory to advance to the semifinals of the NJSIAA tournament.
In one of their closest matches of the season, Ridge faced a very strong opponent in Ramapo but was able to hold them off and clinch the match at 14-9 then put in subs to finish the match 15-12 giving underclassmen valuable postseason experience.
The Sabre squad consisted of senior Evan Kreger and juniors Daniel George and David Elian. The foil squad featured senior and team captain Ryan Shadpoor, junior Lawrence Han and sophomore Alex Ligos.

The epee squad had seniors Eric Wang and Jeffery Li, sophomores Max Wang and Ben Chang, and finally freshmen Parth Sethi and Sid Malhotra.
"Each round gets harder and harder but the boys are prepared and have to trust their training," said Coach Fiona Fong.
