Ridge Fencers Dominate Frosh-Soph Invitational With Multiple First-Place Finishes
17 Ridge fencers competed at the Skyland Frosh-Soph Invitational, with eight reaching the finals and three securing first-place finishes.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Seventeen freshmen and sophomore fencers from Ridge High School competed at the Skyland Frosh-Soph Invitational on Feb. 21 at Voorhees High School.
Eight Ridge fencers advanced to the finals after completing the elimination rounds. This marked Ridge's strongest performance at the Frosh-Soph event in recent years.
Three freshmen achieved first-place finishes in their respective weapon categories, demonstrating dominating performances.

Freshman Izabella Klausz secured first place in girls epee. Natalie Chong, also a freshman, topped the girls foil category. Freshman Richard Tsien earned first place in boys epee. These athletes are anticipated to be key contributors to Ridge Fencing's future campaigns.
Other Ridge fencers also achieved strong results. Freshman Beatrice Reed finished 5th in girls sabre, and freshman Jeremy Liu placed 5th in boys foil. Bridget Mulry, a freshman, took 6th place in girls sabre, while freshman Gabriel Iglesias secured 6th place in boys foil. Sophomore Claire Zhang earned 6th place in girls epee.

Medals were awarded to fencers who placed 5th and 6th in this year's Frosh-Soph edition. Trophies were presented to the 1st through 4th place finishers by the event organizers, the Voorhees Fencing Club.
