Ridge Girls, Boys Swim Teams Triumph Over Montgomery

The win assured Ridge a top spot in the Skylands conference, Raritan division this season.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Basking Ridge girls and boys swim teams fought a competitive battle against Montgomery on Jan. 10 and came out on top.

The girls team won by 102-68 and the boys team by 107-63. The win assures Ridge a top spot in the Skylands conference, Raritan division this season.

On the girls' side, Juniors Emily Thompson and Eszter Kiss both won two individual events. Thompson was victorious in the 50 and 100 Free, Kiss in the 200 IM and the 500 Free.

Other individual victories were secured by Emily Wang in the 200 Free and Giulia Beverini in the 100 Back. In the relays, the team of Wang, Kiss, Thompson and Beverini won the 200 Medley relay and the quartet of Maggie Luo, Sammie Oei, Kiss and Thompson won the 200 Free relay.

In the boys competition, Ridge won 7 out of 8 individual events.

Juniors Garrett Gould and Mitch Ferraioli and Sophomore Gabe Beverini won two events each; Gould in the 50 Free and 100 Fly, Ferraioli in the 100 Free and 100 Breast, and Beverini in the 100 Back. The 200 Free was won by Anson Chen.

Ridge dominated the relays. The 200 Medley relay was won by Gould, Beverini, Ferraioli and George Chamberlain, the 200 Free relay by Gould, Chamberlain, Chen and Dean Capizzi and the 400 Free relay by Chen, Capizzi, Beverini and Ferraioli.
