The Ridge High School freshman girls soccer team, coached by Dina German, lost to Bridgewater-Raritan 1-0 on Tuesday at Pleasant Valley Park.
The Panthers scored the winning goal late in the game when a penalty was called just outside the goal area.
The game started off with strong offense as Molly Gilbert took the first shot on goal for Ridge. Amanda Reimer and the defense kept Bridgewater-Raritan from scoring. Kaitlin Ardiff played aggressively and took several shots on goal.

As the game remained scoreless, Ridge continued to pay strong and registered eight shots on goal in the second half.

Meanwhile, Bridgewater-Raritan stepped up its offense. Ridge countered with strong efforts from Caroline Summers, Emily Rowe and Amanda Reimer for more than 25 major defensive plays.
Ridge goalkeeper Claire Herndon made five saves, including a couple of diving stops on hard line drives.
Even after Bridgewater-Raritan scored, Ridge continued its offensive pressure as Lefler, Kylie Curtain and Megan Knightly had scoring chances in the final three minutes, but to no avail.
