Ridge High School Cheerleaders Are 2022 NJ State Champions

This is the fourth year in a row that Ridge Black came home with the gold.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Ridge High School's Competition Cheerleading Ridge Black team are the 2022 New Jersey State Champions. This is the fourth year in a row that Ridge Black came home with the gold.

The NJCDCA takes place at Brookdale's Community College each year (2021 was held virtually). The team competed on Day 1, Saturday, Feb. 27. In previous years Ridge Black has competed in the Small Varsity Division, although this year due to an increase in the size of the team, they competed in the Medium Varsity Division.

Our Head Coach Dom Vignali was recognized by NJCDCA on Saturday with a 2022 Coaches Recognition Award for all his hard work and for all he has done for his team and athletes during Covid.

In addition, Ridge Black competed at the NHSCC Nationals Competition in Disney, Feb. 11 - 13. Competing in the largest and most competitive division ever at this national's event, Small Varsity Division 1, Ridge Black competed against 106 teams in 4 elimination rounds in 3 days, to finish sixth in the nation, beating out 100 teams from around the country. It was an amazing 4 days, finishing at Finals with 0 deductions.

Ridge High School also has a second Varsity competition cheer team, Ridge Green. Ridge Green competes in the Medium Varsity / Non-Tumble division. Ridge Green finished in the top 10 at Nationals as well in 7th Place. And placed 2nd at the States Championship! Kudos to Ridge Green!

Ridge Competition Cheerleading 2021-2022 season is now over, but what a season it has been! We say goodbye to six incredible senior athletes who helped build Ridge Cheerleading to what it is today and have placed Ridge on the Nationals map. Wishing the best of luck to what comes next are our seniors Abby Szikman, Brianna Vick, Lauren Kennedy, Jillian Ring, Sammie Vassallo, and Sophia Giordano.
