Ridge Swim Team Beats Bernards In Annual Senior Night Battle

The Ridge Boys and Girls Swim Teams both were victorious over Bernards High School.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Ridge Boys and Girls Swim Teams both beat Bernards High School in their annual Senior Night battle on Feb. 3. The Ridge Girls won 120-49 and the Boys won 117-53.

The Girls won all three relays. The team of Emily Wang, Niamh O’Sullivan, Tracy Lu, and Giulia Beverini won the 200 medley relay, followed by Eszter Kiss, Emily Wang, Tracy Lu and Emily Thompson, who took first in the 200 free relay.

The Ridge Girls won 1st and 2nd place in the 400 free relay, with the team of Emily Thompson, Eszter Kiss, Victoria Doucette, and Giulia Beverini coming in first, and Charli Geary, Alex Hodge, Mia Capizzi and Niamh O’Sullivan taking second.

The Girls also shined in individual events. In the 200 free, Emily Thompson won first place and Eszter Kiss took second. Thompson also won the 200 individual medley and the 100 fly. Tracy Lu won the 50 free, and Victoria Doucette took second place. Giulia Beverini won the 100 free, followed by Tracy Lu in second and Victoria Doucette in third. Giulia Beverini also won the 100 back, and Emily Wang won the 500 free.

The Boys also had big wins over Bernards. In relay events, the team of Garrett Gould, Kevin Cao, Mitch Ferraioli, and Andy Moss won the 200 medley relay, and the team of Orion Wang, Seif Elnawawi, Daniel Xia, and Ian D’Silva came in second. The Boys team of Garrett Gould, Mitch Ferraioli, Daniel Xia, and Dean Capizzi won the 200 free relay, and Dean Capizzi, Anurag Bhat, Andy Moss and Seif Elnawawi won the 400 free relay.

The Boys also won several individual events. The Boys finished first, second and third in the 200 free: Andy Moss won, followed by Gabe Beverini in second and Lucas Cantetos Paz in third. Garrett Gould won the 50 free and the 100 free. Mitch Ferraioli won the 100 fly, Kevin Cao won the 500 free, and Seif Elnawawi won the 100 breast.

The bleachers were filled with supportive family and friends and the seniors were each honored individually. The teams also celebrated Bernards Coach Ed Tsuzuki, who is retiring after 34 dedicated years.
