Ridge Tightens Security At High School
Beginning on Tuesday, Ridge High School will reduce the frequency and duration of open or unlocked exterior doors at the school.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Beginning on Tuesday, Ridge High School will reduce the frequency and duration of open or unlocked exterior doors at the school in order to improve security.
"The safety of all those at Ridge is a primary concern for all of us," Principal Drew Krause stated in a letter to parents on Monday.
As part of the security update any items dropped off at the high school during school hours (such as lunches, books, equipment, etc.) need to be labeled and left at designated tables in the high school main entrance vestibule.

These items will be brought into the building at regular intervals. The district noted it cannot be responsible for items left at school.
Additionally, the number of doors that will be unlocked and used for the morning arrival process will be cut down.

"This will allow for better monitoring of the designated entrances. Students will be advised of the designated entrances before this process is formally implemented," Krause said.
Other security updates will also be implemented in the near future as school officials continue to work with the Bernards Township Police Department to practice, review and improve security plans and procedures in the district.
