Ridge Youth Softball 10U Wins Allendale Tournament

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Ridge Youth Softball 10U team capped off a successful season by winning their third tournament of the year, defeating Midland Park in the championship game of Allendale tournament on Sunday, July 24.

The Ridge team swept through the tournament, showing dominant offensive and defensive prowess.

The pitching staff, led by captain Kayla Eng, Elsie McCoubrey, and Hannah Hsu, gave up no runs in the tournament.

Together, the team put up 32 runs with Chelsea Sordillo leading the team in hits for the tournament.

The Ridge team's offense was clicking on all cylinders in the championship game. Every player on the team got on base.

Alex Marino was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double and two singles. Kayla Eng was also hot at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a grand slam home run in her final at bat of the season.

Once on base, Izzy Finley and Ellisyn Tse's speed and aggressive baserunning put pressure on the Midland Park defense.

The Ridge team's defense was equally impressive in the championship game, playing errorless ball and limiting a hard-hitting Midland Park team from scoring.

Catchers Mary Weibel and Ruolin Yuan anchored the backstop, preventing the opponent from stealing any bases. Hannah Hsu led the team defensively with 3 putouts and 2 assists.

This was a storybook ending to a great season for the Ridge team, which had previously won the Atalese Memorial Tournament and Viking Classic Tournament.
