Somerset County: Commission On The Status Of Women Hosts Empowerment Workshop In Celebration Of Women’s History Month

SOMERVILLE, NJ – The Somerset County Commission on the Status of Women is honoring Women’s History Month by hosting a virtual workshop at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 15. The one-hour interactive program will address two key areas of women’s overall well-being: financial and physical health.

“The Commission’s goal is to identify issues that impact women, and to empower women by providing the tools they need to succeed,” said Commissioner Deputy Director Sara Sooy, liaison to the Commission on the Status of Women. “Because this past year has been difficult for everyone, I encourage women to take an hour to reconnect and invest in themselves by joining us on March 15.”

A “Back to Basics” segment on budgeting and credit fundamentals will be led by Katie Sapio, Member Development officer at Affinity Federal Credit Union. Dr. Spiridoula Riley, a physical therapist at RWJ Barnabas Health, will conduct the second segment, “Mind, Body & Soul,” which focuses on the importance of proper breathing, posture and body alignment.
Nancy D’Andrea, chair of the Commission, will host the program. Commissioner Deputy Director Sooy also plans to participate.
The mission of the Commission on the Status of Women is to advocate for all women in Somerset County by providing an effective forum to identify and address women’s issues and concerns.
