Somerset County Government: LGBTQ+ Advisory Board Holds Workshop Jan. 27

SOMERVILLE – The Somerset County LGBTQ+ Advisory Board is cosponsoring an online workshop with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset’s BABS Siperstein PROUD Center, titled “Fostering Equity and Inclusion in Healthcare Settings.”

“This is the first of three workshops that the Somerset County LGBTQ+ Advisory Board has planned for 2021, all of which are focused on bringing important issues to the forefront for our LGBTQ+ community,” said County Commissioner Melonie Marano, liaison to the advisory board. “I want to thank RWJUH Somerset’s PROUD Center for participating in the workshop and for being an integral partner in our efforts to promote inclusiveness within the county’s diverse population.”
The program, which includes three breakout sessions, will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27. Following the breakout sessions will be a Q&A segment. To register for the Zoom event, visit: https://tinyurl.com/somersethealth.

The three topics being covered during the breakout sessions are LGBTQ+ Wellness & Prevention, Transgender Healthcare, and Mental Health in the LGBTQ+ community.
Speakers will include Paula Gutierrez, director of Diversity & Inclusion for RWJUH Somerset; Danielle King, co-chair of RWJUH Somerset’s PROUD Business Resource Group; and Alicia Rogers, a registered nurse with over 10 years of experience in various fields of healthcare. Additional speakers from CogniCare Psychological Services include Jasmine Mushington and Ali Longo, both of whom are counselors who work with the LGBTQ+ populations.
