SOMERVILLE, NJ – The Somerset County Board of County Commissioners and the county Transportation Division recently re-examined ridership numbers and resources for its public shuttle services. Because ridership was down by almost 70% on some routes, adjustments are being made to SCOOT PEAK and CAT shuttle schedules, effective Monday, April 5.

“We realize that public transportation options are limited for residents who need to get around the county, which is why Somerset County offers paratransit and public shuttle services for older adults, people with disabilities and workers who do not drive or own a car,” said Commissioner Melonie Marano, public works liaison. “This year, we re-examined ridership numbers, public demand and resources. Based on our desire to make fiscally sound decisions for the taxpayers of Somerset County, we decided the best course of action was to make these adjustments.
“We will continue to monitor ridership numbers and public demand throughout the year and make adjustments as needed,” said Commissioner Marano. “Should ridership increase, or feedback indicate a need, we would certainly look to add stops and routes as needed.”
