Special School Police Officer Set To Be Hired In Bernards: Look Ahead

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The week of Sept. 25 is set to be a busy one in Bernards Township. Check out what is happening around town as we highlight events coming up during the week.

Monday

The Bernards Township Pool Commission will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday at Owen Conference Room, Municipal Building, 1 Collyer Lane. On the agenda is the 2023 Operating Schedule; 2023 Operating Budget; 2023 Membership & Guest Fees; and 2023 Membership Policies.

The Township Environmental Commission will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday at the Municipal Building, Warren Craft Room, 1 Collyer Lane. On the agenda is relief for parking an RV in a front yard and relief for construction of an in-ground pool located in a front yard.

Tuesday

The Township Committee is set to meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the municipal building, 1 Collyer Lane. On the agenda is the committee is set to vote on the hiring and placement of a Special Police Officer III (SLEOIII) specifically and solely for the purpose of school security.

The committee is also looking to purchase three 2022 Ford Utility Police vehicles for roughly $120,000.

Wednesday

The Library Board is set to meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Bernards Township Library, Program Room A (Lower Level). On the agenda is a motion to approve the purchase and installation of an upgraded Fire Alarm Control Panel from ADT Commercial, not to exceed $8,000 and a motion to approve the hiring of Weathertite Solutions Roofing Contractors to assess and repair the newest roof leak, not to exceed $1,000.

Saturday

The Mayor's Fall Festival is returning to Bernards Township on Oct. 1. Read More: Mayor's Fall Festival Returns To Basking Ridge

Presented by the Bernards Township Parks & Recreation, the festival will be held at the Municipal Complex and Astor Fields from 2 to 5 p.m. Parking is available at Ridge High School, 268 S Finley Ave.

The festival will include pumpkin rolling races, hay rides and a corn maze, DJ, games, arts and crafts, free cider and donuts, historical tours, touch-a-truck, and free face painting.
