Registration for Summer Horse Camps continues at the Somerset County Park Commission Lord Stirling Stable. The five-day programs focus on riding and horse care and feature a different theme each week. The Stable is located at 256 South Maple Avenue in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.
The hands-on, weekly workshops will begin on Monday, June 24, with the last workshop beginning on Monday, August 19, 2019. Programs will run from 8:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. Monday through Friday on most weeks. Topics include trail riding, advanced grooming, jumping and gymnastics, etc. All days include at least one riding lesson, plus a second ride on at least four of the camp days (weather and schedules permitting). Between rides, campers will learn about horse care and management in a safe, fun environment.
Registration will be available up to the Friday before the opening day of each Camp, as space permits. Riders must be at least 9 years of age to participate in the summer camp sessions. See the web site at www.somersetcountyparks.org on programs for ages riders age 6 to 8 years. Fee for weekly sessions is $300 for Somerset County residents and $450 for non-residents. A discounted rate for a second family member or second week of camp is $250 for residents and $387.50 for non-residents.
