Twilight 5K to Prevent Underage Drinking
Help prevent underage drinking by participating in the 28th Annual Pleasant Valley Twilight Challenge in Basking Ridge

Basking Ridge, NJ -- Registration is open for the 28th Annual Pleasant Valley Twilight Challenge on Sunday, June 5, at Pleasant Valley Park in Basking Ridge.
The race begins at 6 p.m., while a one mile health walk begins at 5:30 p.m. Kids can also partake in a children’s Lollipop Loop at the conclusion of the 5K. Registration is live online at https://runsignup.com/Race/NJ/BaskingRidge/28thAnnualPleasantValleyTwilightChallenge5K , www.bernardsalliance.org, or members of the community can pick up a form at Charter Day or at the Bernards Township Health Department.
“The Twilight Challenge has been a staple in the community for 28 years now! It’s a fun evening for all families with local band Mama’s Stew providing live entertainment starting at 4pm and a variety of events to pick from. We are hoping to have amazing weather, lots of runners, and even more support to prevent underage drinking in Bernards Township,” said Community Program Coordinator, Kaitlin Kordusky.

The 5K race will start at 6 p.m. and will include two cross country loops around the park. Pre–registration is $25 if received by Friday, June 3rd and the fee on race day is $30. Walkers can register for the $15 one-mile walk in advance or the day of the event. All runners must pick up their numbers on race day between 4:00 and 5:30 p.m. The Lollipop Loop for children begins around 6:45 at the conclusion of the 5K race. Children of all ages are welcome to join in the fun.
Prizes will be given to the top overall male and female runners in each age group in five-year increments from 10 and under to 80 and older. Awards take place at 7 pm. Swag bags will be filled with giveaways from the Municipal Alliance and other local businesses and will be distributed to participants, as well as a race t-shirt. This year the Alliance is proud to offer timing with chipped timing and markers at the 1 mile, 2 mile, and 3 mile mark. Timing will be provided by Blue Ridge Timing.

The event is sponsored by the Bernards Township Health Department and the Bernards Township Municipal Alliance Against Substance Abuse. Funds will go towards supporting initiatives that reduce and prevent underage drinking in the community, including sending high school students to the Lindsey Meyer Teen Institute.
