Upcoming January Children Events At Bernards Twp. Library

The Bernards Township Library is offering a month long of events for kids to celebrate the joy of reading aloud.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Bernards Township Library is offering a month long of events for kids to celebrate the joy of reading aloud.

Interested families can sign up at the children's desk and receive a family packet for the month-long activity.

Here is a listing of the January events:

  • Jan. 2 from 6:30 to 7 p.m.: Twilight Tales - Fun family night time storytime. Children are invited to wear their pajamas. No registration required. Meet on the story steps.
  • Saturday, Jan. 6 from 10:30 to 11 a.m.: Saturday Stories "Snuggle Up with a Good Book" - all ages. Delightful family storytime. Meet on the story steps. No registration required.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 9 from 6:30 to 7 p.m.: Twilight Tales - family fun. Fun family night time storytime. Children are invited to wear their pajamas. No registration required. Meet on the story steps.
  • Saturday, Jan. 13 from 10:30 to 11 a.m.: Saturday Stories "Skating Fun" - all ages. Delightful family storytime. Meet on the story steps. No registration required.
  • Week of Jan. 16: Winter Early Literacy 7-week Storytime session begins. For more information or to register, click here.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 16 from 4 to 4:45 p.m.: 3rd Grade Reading Adventures. Fun discussion and activity on this month's chosen book - My Father's Dragon by Ruth Stiles Gannett. Copies available at Children's desk. Register online.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 16 from 6:30 to 7 p.m.: Twilight Tales - family fun. Fun family night time storytime. Children are invited to wear their pajamas. No registration required. Meet on the story steps.
  • Thursday, Jan. 18 from 9:30 to 9:50 a.m.: Baby Time - birth to 15 months. Rhymes, songs, fingerplays and a special story. Stay for socializing. No registration required. Doors open early at 9:15 a.m.
  • Saturday, Jan. 20 from 11 to 11:45 a.m.: Winter Fest Adventure with Master Storyteller Don Doughtery - family fun. Meet Losty the Snowman. Audience participation and snow included. This event is sponsored by The Friends of BTL. No registration required.
  • Sunday, Jan. 21 from 2 to 3 p.m.: Tinker Time at the Library - all ages. Creative craft fun with recyclables. All materials provided. No registration required.
  • Monday, Jan. 22 from 10:30 to 11 a.m.: Preschool Yoga Storytime - ages 5 and under with caregiver. Namaste for the very young with yoga instructor Pamela Nixon. Register online.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 23 from 6:30 to 7 p.m.: Twilight Tales - family fun. Fun family night time storytime. Children are invited to wear their pajamas. No registration required. Meet on the story steps.
  • Wednesday, Jan. 24 from 4 to 5 p.m.: Book Buddies "Ice Cube Racing" - grades K, 1 and 2. Stories and a fun S.T.E.A.M. activity for children in Grades K, 1 and 2. Register online.

  • Saturday, Jan. 27 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. performances: Trilogy Repertory presents "The Dinosaur Play" - ages 3 - 10. Live theatre at the Library. Sponsored by The Friends of BTL, the play, presented by local actors, includes lots of audience participation. Three performance times. Free tickets available at the Children's circulation desk.
  • Sunday, Jan. 28 from 2 to 3 p.m.: Legos at the Library - ages 4 and up with a caregiver. Library supplies the Legos, kids supply the imagination. No registration required.
  • Monday, Jan. 29 from 10:30 to 11 a.m.: Shake, Rattle & READ! - ages 3 and under with an adult. Imaginative, interactive musical program for children 3 and under. Register online.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 30 from 6:30 to 7 p.m.: Twilight Tales - family fun. Fun family night time storytime. Children are invited to wear their pajamas. No registration required. Meet on the story steps.
