• Rare daytime fireball streaks across sky over N.J., other eastern states. ‘It looked like a missile.' (nj.com subscription) — People in Beach Haven joined beachgoers across Long Beach Island in watching a rare daytime fireball blaze across the sky Saturday afternoon. The bright meteor, visible from multiple New Jersey towns, disintegrated high above Galloway Township after streaking in at about 30,000 mph. 
• Daylight meteor airburst releases energy equal to about 300 tons of TNT over New England (watchers.news) — Beach Haven residents were among those who spotted a dramatic daytime fireball, with witnesses here reporting pieces breaking off the bright meteor as it streaked overhead. The supersonic object fragmented high above New England, creating shock waves that produced loud booms and brief shaking reported across several states.
