2 Attempted Car Thefts, 1 Stolen Vehicle In Nutley This Month: Police
NPD: A parked car was stolen. A person was caught pulling on door handles of cars – twice on the same day.
NUTLEY, NJ — Two attempted car thefts and a stolen vehicle were recently reported in Nutley, authorities say.
The Nutley Police Department released the following details about three incidents that took place in the township, including two that happened on the same day:
March 11 (River Road) – “Officers responded to River Road on a report of a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, officers were met with the driver, who had stated they had parked their car and left it to attend a meeting. After the meeting, they returned to the location they parked their vehicle, and the vehicle was gone. The detective bureau was on scene and is taking over the investigation.”

March 15 (Franklin Avenue) – “Officers responded to Franklin Avenue on a possible car theft. The owner of the vehicle stated he was alerted by other patrons in a café that the male party was attempting to access their vehicle by pulling on the door handle. Once the male suspect was approached, they fled in a black SUV. The area was canvased and the detective bureau was advised of the incident.”
March 15 (Franklin Avenue) – “A caller reported witnessing an individual attempting to access a high-end Lamborghini by pulling on the door handle while it was parked in a lot. The reporting party knew the owner of the vehicle, and knew that the suspect was not the owner. The suspect fled the scene and entered a black Mercedes. The detective bureau was advised of the incident.”
