NUTLEY, NJ — Nutley police arrested two juveniles last week who may be responsible for several car burglaries in the area, authorities said.

According to the Nutley Police Department, officers saw two juveniles from Passaic burglarizing a car on Raymond Avenue on June 20. After a brief chase, the officers took the youths into custody and searched them, finding items believed to be proceeds from vehicle burglaries that took place across the township the previous two nights.

Break-ins took place on Bloomfield Avenue, Ridge Road, Cedar Street, Holmes Street, Columbia Avenue, Ackerman Street and Chestnut Street. Several of the cars were left unlocked, police said.

One of the items found during the June 20 arrest – a Chromebook computer found inside a backpack – belonged to a Cedar Street resident, who verified that two of their vehicles were broken into, police said.

The pair may also be connected with a home burglary that took place on Bloomfield Avenue on June 20. A purse was stolen in that incident, police said.
