3 Suspected Drug Overdoses In 10 Days: Nutley Police

Nutley emergency responders used Narcan to revive people on Passaic Avenue, Clement Street and Race Street, authorities said.

NUTLEY, NJ — Nutley emergency responders recently used Narcan to revive three people from suspected drug overdoses in a 10-day span, authorities said.

According to the Nutley Police Department, officers responded to Passaic Avenue on Jan. 8 after getting a report about an “unresponsive” man.

Emergency responders gave the man Narcan but there was no immediate effect, so rescue breathing needed to be performed. Paramedics arrived soon afterwards and after about 15 minutes, the man regained consciousness and began breathing. He was transported to a nearby hospital, police said.

Emergency responders administered Narcan, which had no immediate effect. They then deployed a second dose with oxygen. Soon afterwards, the person regained consciousness, but they were still "incoherent." The person was transported to an area hospital for further treatment, police said.
