BELLEVILLE, NJ — Students at School 9 in Belleville were relocated to the high school on Friday after a power outage, administrators said.
“Due to a local power outage impacting School 9, and with PSE&G estimating restoration around 2:30 p.m., all students are being relocated to the Belleville High School auditorium for the remainder of the day,” district administrators reported.
School 9 will operate on a single session schedule, with dismissal at 12:30 p.m. The high school auditorium is located at 100 Passaic Avenue.
“For the safety and security of our students, all parents/guardians picking up students must present identification at pickup,” the Belleville Public School District stated.
Parents seeking more information can contact School 9 at (973) 969-4343.
“We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work through this unexpected situation,” administrators said.
The district reopened for in-person learning earlier this week after a major fire ravaged the township. Schools were closed for three days before the district temporarily pivoted to remote learning.
