Argument Leads To Stabbing At Belleville Pool Hall: Police

The alleged stabbing took place following an argument at Guys and Dolls, Belleville police say.

Belleville, NJ – An argument turned ugly and ended with a stabbing at a Belleville pool hall last week, resulting in the arrest of two Newark residents, police said.

According to the Belleville Police Department, the alleged stabbing took place at Guys and Dolls on Washington Avenue around 11 p.m. on March 3.

When officers responded to the scene of a reported disturbance, a group of males told them that they had just been involved in an argument with two men. According to the victims, one of the suspects pulled a knife and cut one of the men on the hand.

The men told officers that when they tried to leave the establishment, the two suspects followed them, stabbing one of the men in the back and allegedly threatening to kill him, police stated.

Officers apprehended one suspect after a brief struggle, but the second man offered a more determined resistance and reportedly smashed his head against the window of a patrol car, police said.

An officer was injured in the incident and the window was broken, police stated.

Emergency responders transported the victims to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities charged Gerardo Santana, 27, and Ramon Santana, 19, both of Newark, with possession of a weapon.

Gerardo Santana was also charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.

Ramon Santana was also charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and resisting arrest.
