In Belleville: 2 Days, 2 Home Burglaries, Police Say
Belleville residents on Branch Brook Drive and Frederick Street reported home burglaries, authorities say.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — A pair of Belleville residents reported home burglaries last week, authorities say.
According to the Belleville Police Department, a Branch Brook Drive resident said that he arrived home around 4:41 p.m. on Oct. 23 to find his front door unlocked. After entering his apartment, he saw that someone had ransacked the interior.
The resident said that missing items – valued at $2,000 – included two television sets, a Sony PlayStation and a safe.

FREDERICK STREET
Around 11:44 a.m. on Oct. 24, a Belleville resident on Frederick Street called police to report a burglary in progress.

According to police, officers arrived on the scene and spoke to a witness who said they saw a man exit the home with a television set. When confronted, the suspect allegedly dropped the TV and fled the area.
Later that day, Belleville police learned that a man fitting the description of the suspect had checked into a nearby hospital. Officers located the man on scene, later identified as Anthony Harper, 27, of Newark.
Belleville police arrested Harper and charged him with burglary and theft by unlawful taking.
