Belleville Man Blocks Road After He's Handed Traffic Ticket; Police Issue DUI
The Belleville man allegedly told police that he stopped traffic because he got a motor vehicle summons earlier that day, authorities said.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — Were you held up by a pickup truck blocking traffic near Belmont and Newark Avenues last week? Here’s what allegedly happened.
According to the Belleville Police Department, officers responded to a report of a vehicle blocking traffic in the area of Belmont and Newark Avenues around 9:43 p.m. on Jan. 3. On arrival, the officers found a still-running pickup truck stopped in the road and a man standing outside the vehicle blocking all traffic from passing.
When officers spoke to the man, later identified as Omar Giron Jimenez, 36, of Belleville, he told them that he was blocking traffic because he got a motor vehicle summons earlier that day, authorities said.

The officers said that they smelled an alcoholic beverage on Jimenez’s breath and that he had “bloodshot and watery eyes.” Police took him into custody after he reportedly failed field sobriety tests.
Authorities charged Jimenez with DUI and refusal and released him on his own recognizance.
