BELLEVILLE, NJ — Belleville is gearing up for its next local election, with three key township positions up for grabs in 2026.

A non-partisan municipal election will take place in Belleville on Tuesday, May 12. Voters will be asked to cast ballots for mayor and two at-large township council members. Terms last for four years.

Mayor Michael Melham is running for re-election. He faces a challenge from town council member Frank Vélez.

Candidates do not declare political parties in non-partisan elections. Interested candidates must file their nominating petitions by Feb. 26. Learn more here.
