Belleville Woman Fled Crash That Killed Teen Riding Dirt Bike: ECPO

The Belleville community continues to mourn a middle school student who died in a crash.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — A Belleville woman has been accused of leaving the scene of a crash that killed a 13-year-old riding a dirt bike, prosecutors say.

“Residents it is with a heavy heart we announce a fatal crash investigation involving a 13-year-old juvenile male from Belleville. On Tuesday, June 7 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Belleville police were notified of a motorcycle crash at the intersection of Joralemon Street and Garden Avenue. When police arrived on scene, they observed a juvenile male unresponsive. The juvenile was transported to Clara Maass Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Preliminary investigation revealed the juvenile was operating a dirt bike on Joralemon Street when he lost control and subsequently struck a utility pole. The investigation is still active and ongoing. We ask that you keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.”

The teen was identified as Victor Huaringa-Alvez, a middle school student in Belleville. He died of his injuries in a hospital about 45 minutes after the crash, NJ.com reported.

Authorities have since accused a driver of fleeing the scene after her Ford Explorer allegedly collided with the boy, NorthJersey.com reported.

A spokesperson with the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office told Patch that Marilyn J. Quisepe-Falcon, 36, of Belleville, has been charged with second-degree leaving the scene of a fatal accident, third-degree endangering an injured victim and third-degree being an unlicensed driver involved in a fatal incident.

Quisepe-Falcon turned herself in to detectives from Belleville and the prosecutor’s office on Thursday. She was charged and released pending a court date, NJ.com reported.

The Belleville Public School District held a “dress down day” fundraiser to benefit Huaringa-Alvez’s family on Monday.
