At the 2011 NJSIAA State Sectional Championship Meet at Jost Field in South Plainfield on May 27 and May28, the varsity athletes competed against other North 2, Group3 schools.
Bryon Cure represented Belleville in the 1600m and 3200m, Jamie and Kristy Bono ran in the 1600m and 3200m, Nick Costa in the 800m and the 1600m, Daryl Scales in the 200m and 400m, Shania Piscitelli in the 100m and 200m, and freshman Devon Strom qualified to throw the javelin.
Vanessa Ackon was the only student athlete from Belleville to qualify to move on to the next round of competition the following weekend. She qualified in the 200m with a time of 26.86sec, ranking fifth of 28 competitors, and qualified in the 400m with a time of 61.65sec in fourth place out of 26 competitors. At the NJSIAA State Group Championship Meet, this past weekend Vanessa represented Belleville against the other top Group 3 athletes from all over the state.
