Body Delights Aids the Serious Male and Female Athlete

Luis Sienz is a fortunate guy. He’s trying to get in better shape, improve his health, and he discovered he lives down the road from Eddie Colon and Body Delights Sports Nutrition.

“This is my first time here,” claims Sienz after purchasing a container of whey protein, as well as getting a lesson in the benefit of amino acids from Colon. “I passed by many times and the pictures, especially the one in the doorway, inspired me to stop in.”

Colon laughs. “Everybody – and I mean everybody – loves that picture.”

The wording above it? “Shut up and train.” It exemplifies Colon’s beliefs.

“Dangerous’ is not working out and allowing your heart to explode,” says Colon. I tell him I can relate. I had a heart attack at age 34 back in 1996. “See that,” he says. “We deal with serious male and female athletes here,. And anyone who works out is serious to me. I don’t care if you’re bodybuilder or run, the main thing is you are active. I want,” he says while pointing to his front door, “to be revolving. I’d rather have 100 good customers than 1000 bad ones.”

And Colon is serious about the working out part. His physique is sculpted, biceps bulging.

But it wasn’t always that way. “When I was 22 I was heavy. You should see the photo I had taken back then for my driver’s license photo,” he says with a laugh. He had moved from the Bronx, New York to Camden County's, Delran, New Jersey, and noticed a trail that ran through his apartment complex. “I started to run through there,” he said, “and I also started to train at a gym on Route 130.” After that, he moved back to the Bronx, and those who remembered the portly 22 –year-old couldn’t believe their yes. “People were asking me, ‘What happened?”

And then a relationship happened, and a girl coaxed him back to the Garden State and to Belleville. The girl is gone (“We’re still good friends,” he says with a smile), but he’s still here. And he loves it – and Belleville. “I want to be the niche market for Belleville for real athletes; a genuine guy who cares about sports.”

Eddie Colon was working for a law firm in New York City and saw a layoff looming. He resigned instead in 2009, but not after starting to build the foundation for Body Delights by working out of his apartment and car. “I wanted it,” he recalls.

He opened, with the remainder of his savings, his store in December, 2009, and he sells the finest in vitamins, pre-workout drinks, protein, creatine, and will gladly guide you in nutrition plan assistance. He even sells Pre-Surge Unleashed, my prior-to-workout wake- me-up. “I’m not in the business of selling to people for sake of profit. I like to show people, and be honest. I’m always bringing in new things – make it fresh, keep it new.”

And Eddie Colon doesn’t, in his words, “sell magic,” but close to it. “There is,” he attests, “no hocus pocus, no magic under the sun. People often come back to me and say thanks, but I tell them, 'Hey, you did it, not me."
