The Church Proposal

Proposing, marrying and celebrating all in one place. The church.

"Will you marry me?"

When it comes to asking that very important question the ideas of how and where to do it are almost limitless. Some of the most common ones include: The Restaurant Proposal, The Beach Proposal, The Christmas Gift Proposal and even the Famous Building or Location Proposal. On the other hand some of the most unusual/creative ones include: The SCUBA Diving Proposal, The Cinema Screen Proposal, and The Pizza Delivery Proposal. Do you remember how you proposed or were proposed to?

Proposing is usually a very important decision for a man and a very special moment for the woman. That’s why; being spontaneous and creative is a must. It is an event to remember, so doing it right means the difference between a wonderful memory/story to share and a plain old, “I’m not sure, but it was nice” recollection.

Traditionally, the man proposes at a special location, a bridal shower is held at one of the bride’s friend’s home and then the wedding then takes place at a church followed by a reception at a hall or other. But have you ever heard of all these taking place in the same location? We’ve had the privilege to witness this at River of Life. About two years ago we had a parishioner, Evelio Valle, proposed to Eileen Rivera on a Sunday morning worship service in front of the entire congregation (approx. 100 people). A few months later the bride received a shower of gifts in the fellowship hall (downstairs). Last year in October the bride and groom were joined in holy matrimony in the church followed by a reception in the same fellowship hall. The Church Proposal seemed to have been a unique and significant way to ask “the question” since this past month we had yet another young man creatively propose on a Sunday morning service. Congratulations to Janet Malave and Adriel Nuñez!
