Dog Attacks Nutley Woman and Her Pet: Police

The May 20 incident is part of a growing list of dog attacks recently reported in Nutley.

Nutley, NJ – A Nutley woman and her dog required trips to the hospital after a large sheep terrier bit them last week, police said

According to the Nutley Police Department, the incident took place near Glendale Street on May 20, when a large “sheep terrier mix” allegedly came running out of a Terrace Avenue home and attacked the woman’s smaller dog.

Despite the woman’s attempt to protect her pet, the larger dog eventually managed to get hold of the smaller canine and cause “serious injury,” police stated.

In addition, the woman suffered a bite on her right hand while trying to protect her pet, police said.

Emergency responders transported the woman to a local hospital, and her dog to a nearby animal hospital, where it was transferred for surgery, police stated.

Animal control officers responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation, Nutley police said.

Police quarantined the attacking dog for 10 days and issued its owner a summons.
