Nutley Dog Attack: 'Lab Mix' Bites Boy, 6, Police Say

Police said that the dog didn't have a Nutley license.

Nutley, NJ – Another dog bite incident has been reported in Nutley, this time involving a six-year-old boy and a Labrador retriever mix.

According to the Nutley Police Department, officers responded to a Brookline Avenue home on May 8 to take a report about a dog bite incident.

Residents told police that the grandmother’s dog – a “Lab mix” – bit the mother’s six-year-old son on the face.

The Nutley Emergency Rescue Squad assessed and treated some small lacerations to the left side of the child’s face and neck, police said.

Police said that the child’s parent signed an RMA and stated they would transfer their son to a local hospital for an additional check.

According to police, the dog’s rabies vaccine was up to date, but the canine did not have a Nutley license.

Authorities issued the owner a summons for having an unlicensed animal.

Nutley has also seen other recent reports of dog bites, including a serious attack in March that left a local infant in need of three plastic surgeries and more than 70 stitches.
