A HOME, built for Family & Friends, for Sale in Nutley, NJ

43 Alexander Avenue

Nutley, NJ holds plenty of tradition and provides a vibrant, suburban living lifestyle, just 13 miles from NYC! When the Durando family began searching for the perfect home during the late 1990’s, they knew Nutley was the town for them, with a great school system, well-kept park system, tree lined streets, friendly neighbors and short commute to NYC. They selected 43 Alexander Avenue to begin their family’s future. Nutley roots run deep for this family – “Our children are the 4th generation in our family to live in Nutley. Their great grandparents came here and created a life in this community for their 11 children. In the late 90’s, we bought this house and in 2000 we took the house down to the studs and began to create the vision of how we wanted this fantastic space to serve our family.”

This home is situated on a corner in the desirable Spring Garden section of town. Adjacent to a quiet cul-de-sac, they envisioned their children safely playing outside with the neighborhood children. This 4,000 square foot home was built with family and friends in mind. As the family stated, “When we built the kitchen and gathering areas of the house, we did it with the intention of making great entertainment spaces for special events and holiday traditions to bring family and friends together for fun celebrations. For many years we had three generations of our families celebrating together in this lovely home. Two wood burning fireplaces enhance the warmth of the house. The kitchen space and center island with refrigeration were designed for serving food for small family meals or large party events. The basement family room and full oak bar were set for hosting celebrations year after year while the acoustic ceiling allowed us to keep the noise contained when festivities ran late!” The parties never seemed to end in this Alexander Avenue home.

Neighbors nearby often speak of the cars lining the entire block and sounds of music and laughter coming from the home during their holiday and family celebrations. The family noted, “The wraparound front porch served us well for gatherings with plenty of seating and double French doors that opened into the living room for multi-season indoor/outdoor entertainment. And the full-house sound system and smart wiring added to our holiday festivities allowing music throughout the entire property.” Entertaining in one’s home, now more than ever, seems to be increasingly important and there’s no doubt this home serves that purpose.

This home is also structured to accommodate everyday living from its 4-5 bedrooms to the third floor office, that allows for quiet workspace when the home is active and busy. A home office? How about an entire floor dedicated to it!

43 Alexander leaves so many fond memories for this family and so many others that enjoyed its warmth and love, spanning over two decades. As the family explains, “We tried to consider every detail when we renovated our home and it served us well for so many wonderful years. Now, as our children are grown, relocated and the family has spread out in multiple states, the time has come for us to downsize and begin new traditions with the next generation. Our hope is to have a family find the fun of beginning their traditions in this special house with so many amenities designed to entertain and to discover all the happiness that this home has to offer.” This house was clearly turned into a home by this family and that is what’s for sale today – a HOME.
