Man Arrested In Connection With Fatal Hit-And-Run In Nutley: ECPO

A driver hit two pedestrians with their car in Nutley, killing a Paterson resident and injuring another, authorities said.

NUTLEY, NJ -- Police have arrested a man who was allegedly involved in a fatal hit-and-run in Nutley that killed a Paterson resident last week, authorities announced Sunday.

The crash happened around 7 p.m. on Feb. 14 near the Garden State Parkway overpass on Milton Avenue, Nutley police previously said.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office said one of the pedestrians – later identified as Wiston Perlaza, 22, of Paterson – was taken to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 7:12 p.m.

A second pedestrian was hospitalized with serious-but-non-fatal injuries, authorities said.

Prosecutors gave an update on the situation this weekend, noting that an arrest has been made in the case.

Dhkir Robinson, 42, was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death, Operating a Motor Vehicle Resulting in Death With a Suspended License, and Endangering an Injured Victim, prosecutors said.

No additional information was immediately available.
