Athletics Suspended In Nutley After Measles Case
Local recreation activities were canceled in a New Jersey town this weekend.
NEW JERSEY – A New Jersey elementary school reported that a child was diagnosed with measles this week. Local recreation activities were canceled as a result.
In a letter to parents this week, Superintendent Julie Glazer said the Nutley Health Department confirmed one case of measles at the district's Washington School.
As a precautionary measure, the community decided to suspend all Recreation Department sports and activities this upcoming weekend, October 4th through the 6th.

The Nutley Health Department has declared there is no immediate health crisis, but in light of the concerns, the town felt it would "only benefit our residents if we take logical measures against the spread of the virus."
Custodians have sanitized and disinfected the school building, she said.

Staff and students not at the school on Sept. 27 are not at risk for measles, she said.

"We have been tracking this case at Washington before it was confirmed and now continue to monitor and follow guidance from the New Jersey and local departments of health," she said.
