NJ Transit Train Collides With Car In Belleville

A NJ Transit Newark Light Rail train collided with a passenger vehicle on Franklin Street in Belleville, authorities say.

Belleville, NJ – A NJ Transit Newark Light Rail train collided with a passenger vehicle on Wednesday morning at Franklin Street in Belleville, according to authorities.

Two people – the driver of the car and the train operator – suffered minor injuries in the collision, CBS New York reported.

There were 17 people passengers aboard the train at the time, CBS stated.

Service was temporarily between Grove Street and Branch Brook Park, but was running close to schedule about an hour later, NJ Transit authorities reported.
