No Criminal Charges For Livery Driver Who Crashed Into Belleville Police Car
Police were responding to a carjacking at the time of the accident.
Police will not be filing criminal charges against the livery cab driver who crashed into a Belleville police car near Mill Street and Washington Avenue on June 28, sending two officers and himself to the hospital.
The two officers were responding to a reported carjacking around 8:15 p.m. when the cab driver drove his Lincoln Town Car through the intersection of Mill Street and Washington Avenue, Belleville police Sgt. Frank Pignataro told Patch.
Witnesses supported officers’ claims that the vehicle didn’t yield the right of way to the patrol car, which had its lights flashing, Pignataro said.
