Nutley, Belleville Police Cooperate On 2 Stolen Car Cases

Police in Nutley and Belleville worked together on two, separate stolen vehicle cases. Here are the details.

NUTLEY, NJ — Police in Nutley and Belleville recently worked together on two, separate stolen vehicle cases, authorities say.

The Nutley Police Department released the following statements about each incident on Friday.

Jan. 10 – Police monitoring and working with other jurisdictions regarding the whereabouts of a stolen Volkswagen from East Centre Street on Jan. 1 located it on Watchung Avenue in Belleville. The vehicle had sustained damage from what appears to have been a crash. The vehicle was towed to Nutley for processing and later released to the owner.

Jan. 11 – Police responded to Washington Avenue when a caller reported that they left their car running in a lot momentarily to enter an establishment for coffee, and returned to find it missing. Surveillance showed a suspect enter the 2019 Kia and flee north on Washington Avenue. Later that day, Belleville police arrested four individuals that were in possession of the stolen car. Police are investigating.”
