Nutley Dumps Trash Provider, Switches Service: Pickup Rules Here
Nutley officially has a new trash removal provider. Here's what you need to know.

NUTLEY, NJ — The township of Nutley has officially dumped its trash provider.
According to a municipal news release, the township entered into a contract for its solid waste removal with Basso Inc. Carting & Recycling Services last month, replacing its former contractor, Passaic-based Future Sanitation.
The change in providers came a month after residents raised a stink in town, with some complaining of inconvenient and smelly delays in trash pickups.

WHAT’S CHANGED?
“Please be aware that garbage pickup dates and services will remain the same,” town officials stated in a news release this week. “With that said, it is imperative that all residents place items at the curb the night before your scheduled pick up day.”
According to town officials, the solid waste pickup rules will be as follows:
- Zone 1 – Streets west of Franklin Avenue to East Passaic Avenue will be picked up on Mondays and Thursdays. Items need to be placed at the curb Sunday night and Wednesday night.
- Zone 2 – All of Franklin Avenue and all streets east of Franklin Avenue to River Road will be picked up on Tuesdays and Fridays. Items need to be placed at the curb on Monday night and Thursday night.
Bulk items such as furniture, mattresses, box springs and rugs must be cut, rolled and tied into four-foot lengths for pickup town-wide once a week on Wednesday. Items need to be placed curbside Tuesday night.
Vegetative waste collection will take place every Wednesday, May through mid-December. Vegetative materials may not be loose and must be placed within biodegradable (non-plastic) bags or a non-lined can or container. If a non-lined container is to be used, then the container may not exceed 45 gallons. Bundles of sticks, branches and brush may not exceed 4 feet, and must be tied together for lifting purposes. Black construction bags will not be collected. All items must be placed at the curb Tuesday night for Wednesday pick up
Acceptable metal items include appliances, tables, chairs, cabinets, fencing, poles, or “any recyclable metal item.” Call the Nutley Department of Public Affairs at 973 284-4976 by 12 p.m. Wednesdays to arrange for a Thursday pick up. Remove doors from refrigerators/freezers. All items must be placed at the curb Wednesday night for Thursday pick up.
