Nutley Holds First July 4th Fireworks Show Since 2019
Nutley Mayor: "It really felt like the community coming back together."

NUTLEY, NJ — For the first time since 2019, Nutley welcomed back its annual 4th of July celebration to the Park Oval – including a fireworks show.
Earlier this week, the township hosted an Independence Day celebration that drew an estimated 5,000 residents and guests, who packed the center of town for a night of food, music and fireworks.
The evening kicked off with music from DJ Rob Frannicola and continued with a rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” by singer Suhayla Salcedo, until the fireworks show later that night.

“What an incredible event,” Nutley Mayor Joseph Scarpelli said.
“It was so wonderful to see all the excitement,” he continued. “There were people as far as you could see, all the way down to Centre Street and up and down Chestnut Street. It really felt like the community coming back together.”

The mayor said the event was a “cooperative effort” that included the town commissioners, municipal workers and the Nutley Board of Education.
“We have a long, long tradition of having one of the best fireworks shows in the country,” Scarpelli said. “And I think this year was our best ever. The response we have received is amazing.”
“It was really nice to see so many smiling faces,” Scarpelli added. “It’s been a long time coming.”
