Nutley, NJ - The Nutley Police Department issued the following advisory on Wednesday:

“During the week of January 25, 2016 the Nutley Police Department has had a higher volume of attempted phone scams reported. The scams reported are foreign accent males stating they were from the IRS and threatening to arrest or penalize if money was not immediately sent. Fortunately, most people reporting these fictional attempted phone scams have not given their personal information or sent money.”

Police requested that the public not turn over any of their personal information and to terminate the phone call immediately if they think the call may be fraudulent.
