Nutley, NJ – Nutley police are warning residents to be aware of burglars posing as utility workers.
Nutley police posted the following alert on Facebook on Tuesday:
“On this date at approximately 2:23 p.m., an 89 y/o Nutley resident on Bayard St. allowed a man described as a white male, approx. 5’ 7” wearing dark clothing into her home, when he told her he was with the water department. He guided her to basement and let washing machine run while alleged accomplice ransacked bedrooms.”

Nutley police added:
“Chief Strumolo and Mayor Petracco urge residents to not allow anyone into their home without verifying their identity, and if unsure contact police immediately. Anyone that may have observed suspicious vehicle, person or activity in the area of Conover or Bayard today are asked to contact Nutley Detective Bureau 973-284-4940.”
