Nutley Pond Restocked With Fish In Time For Summer Break

NUTLEY, NJ — Trout. Blue gills. Bass. These are some of the roughly 1,000 fish that were recently introduced to the “Mud Hole” in Nutley.
For decades, the pond at Nutley’s Memorial Park – affectionately known as the Mud Hole – has been a popular fishing and relaxation spot for local families.

Now – after a six-month mitigation project – the popular recreation spot has been fully stocked with fish again, officials announced Tuesday.
“With the water management system now in place and the pond refilled, Memorial Park is back to being 100 percent operational,” Nutley Commissioner Mauro Tucci said.

Tucci said the parks department will be periodically adding more fish to the pond. He emphasized that the Mud Hole operates on a “catch and release only” policy.
“We want everyone to enjoy what has become a wonderful tradition for so many families over the years,” he said.
