Nutley School Board Member Assaulted At Parade: Police

A member of the Nutley Board of Education claims he was assaulted by a man he knows only from Facebook at the town's Columbus Day Parade.

NUTLEY, NJ — A member of the Nutley Board of Education claims he was assaulted by a man he knows only from Facebook at the town’s Columbus Day Parade last month, authorities said.

On Friday, the Nutley Police Department released a statement about the alleged assault, which took place on Oct. 13. According to police, the board member told officers that the man approached and assaulted him at the intersection of Franklin and Stager streets.

The board member – whose name wasn’t released – complained of “pain,” police said.

No additional information about the nature of the alleged attack was immediately available.

A 62-year-old Nutley resident was charged with assault in connection with the incident. He was issued a summons and advised of a court date, authorities said.
